Il salotto Italiano in jazz

\"Il salotto Italiano in jazz\", is a project dedicated to the music of Francesco Paolo Tosti, an Italian composer of the second half of the nineteenth century. His music was initially under-appreciated by critics in his time, but today it  is considered a testimonial of Italian musical culture like Verdi, Puccini and Leoncavallo.

 

Riccardo Arrighini and I have elaborated  some of the stylistic and compositional aspects of both the semiotics of music and lyrics by Tosti. Without changing the refined atmosphere of the ‘petite chanson’ we have selected some of Tosti’s most beautiful romances, by reinterpreting them in a jazz mood.

 

The project consists of 12 romances: “Malia”, “L’ultima canzone”, “Van li effluvi delle rose”, “O falce di luna calante”, “Vorrei”, “Non t’amo più”, “L’alba separa dalla luce l’ombra”  and others.
