On February 26th to 28th, Ho Minh Chi will be hosting HortEx Vietnam which is going to be presenting the latest innovations in horticulture and floriculture.
What novelties have you prepared for the 2020 edition?
In 2019 we have organised a very extensive side program which included technical seminars, an export forum, b2b meetings between growers and hosted buyers from China and Singapore and farm visits. The activities for 2020 will be in line with these activities. We see that our participants are very keen on sharing their experience and know-how with our participants. The side program has become one of the key success factors of the exhibition
The event presents a multifaceted programme with workshops at HortEx Vietnam and special events. Which of the activities do you think are a must for the visitor or which of them do you highlight?
In order to create a comprehensive b2b platform for the entire sector it is crucial to organise a dedicated side program. All of the above mentioned activities are crucial as they cater to the special needs of different visitor groups.
What are the advantages of exhibiting at HortEx Vietnam?
HortEx Vietnam enables participants to meet with key buyers from Vietnam and neighbouring countries and explore this huge emerging market.
Vietnam offers endless opportunities and a significant milestone for the Vietnamese vegetables and fruits industry has been witnessed in the 2018 year when it's export turnover reached a record high of USD 3.809 billion, up 8.8% compared to 2017. A further increase is expected for the coming years.
Vietnam with a population of some 95 million people an average GDP growth of 7.5% per year is the fastest growing economy in the ASEAN region (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) and will remain a very high potential market in the years to come as the horticulture and floriculture sector is expected to develop into a mature and technical industry.
Furthermore, Vietnam has the potential to become one of the world’s largest flower exporters according to experts.
HortEx Vietnam is the only dedicated event for the horticulture sector in Vietnam and during the 2019 the event welcomed 6495 trade visitors of which 87,54% came from Vietnam and 12,46% from 31 other countries!
Can you give some tips for those exhibiting for the first time in Ho Chi Minh and specifically at HortEx Vietnam?
HortEx Vietnam is co-organised by Nova Exhibitions from The Netherlands together with VEAS from Vietnam. Both organisers have great experience in organising events according to International standards. Therefore exhibitors can be assured that also HortEx Vietnam is organised on the highest international standards.
With regards to etiquette, I can say that it takes time to build up your relationships in Vietnam. While efficiency is important, the cultural aspect in Vietnam requires your attention and time. Get to know the person. In business as well as personal life, it is a strong benefit if you and your partner have mutual connections. A long-lasting relationship is valued most.
Always keep in mind – show respect and genuine interest while staying humble. Overall, give time to your counterpart, to process their thoughts. However, make sure you keep a constant communication in order to build trust.
